Inspired by Edward Lear, whose Book of Nonsense popularized limerick poetry in the 19th century, Limerick Comics playfully blends amusing limerick poetry and nonfiction. The 32-page collection offers lighthearted original limericks on a diverse range of history and science topics, accompanied by intriguing facts, presented in entertaining comics. Each page contains a five-panel fully illustrated mini-comic, and a sixth panel with engaging, fun facts and information about that topic. Kids of all ages are invited to linger on each page to enjoy the humor of hyperbolic imagery, ponder inferences, and view the evocative details of each eye-catching illustrated panel. Add this playful book to your home, middle-grade classroom, school, or public library collection, and nurture an appreciation of the anapestic cadence and rhyme of limerick poetry, combined with a didactic exploration of science, history, civics, and art.
